Paying it Forward

The program really helped my brother when he was younger so I wanted to pay it forward now.

I got into Big Brothers Big Sisters because my younger brother was a Little when he was a child. The program really helped my brother have a better role model in his life than our father was. I wanted to become involved to pay it forward to another child who needed someone to spend time with them, do activities with them, and be a positive role model. I meet with my Little on a weekly basis for a couple hours per week and we do a lot of fun activities together that I would not normally do on my own. We play mini golf, take part in BBBS activities like Boler Mountain, go bowling, try new recipes and watch movies. We typically meet Thursday evenings but make adjustments when things come up. It’s really easy to fit a couple of hours into your schedule to spend time with someone else. Others should get involved as it’s a great excuse to feel like a kid again yourself and to just have fun.
