In School Mentors make a difference

08-Feb-2016

Joining Big Brothers Big Sisters In School Mentoring program was the best decision I made for my children.

The Big Brothers and Big Sisters In School Mentoring Program means a lot to my two children and myself.  My children were having a hard time in school from their mental health issues down to a huge amount of bullying they both were and are dealing with on a daily basis.  This program gives my children someone else besides mom they can trust, as well as the feeling of security in the school.  It gives them someone they know will listen to them when they need to talk,  shows them kindness, and gives them something to look forward to at school.  It brings smiles, laughter and it shows my children that some adults can be just as cool and awesome as everyone else.  I always know when my children have seen their mentors because it’s always the best day of the week for them.  I asked my children what their mentor means to them in one word.  Besides the huge smiles on their faces from thinking about their mentor, they both picked LOVE.  They love spending time with them and love every idea they bring to school for activities for them to do together from science experiments, building with Lego, arts and crafts, decorating cupcakes for his class celebration, board games and card games and much more the list can go on and on.   Joining the Big Brothers and Big Sisters In School Mentoring Program was the best decision I made for my children.  I would recommend this program to anyone.
